What We Can Learn from the Philadelphia Eagles

Can you believe that football season is finally here?

What I love about this time of year are all the possibilities. You never know who is going to win the championship, what player is going to stand out, and who is going to come back from failure to become a success.

Last year was no different with the amazing success of the Philadelphia Eagles. This was a team that a lot of people were expecting big things from, especially with their superstar quarterback, Carson Wentz.

But something happened on the way to their goal. Carson went down with a season ending injury and the fate of the team was left to a little-known backup quarterback named Nick Foles.

When Wentz’s injury occurred, most people believed the Eagles had no shot at going all the way. How could they compete with their starting quarterback out and a back-up QB leading the team?

As we know, the Eagles went on to become the 2018 Super Bowl champions.

However, that’s not the amazing part of this story. The best part was that while everyone was doubting Nick Foles, he was not doubting himself.

Nick said in an interview, “Acknowledging that you don’t always know the right answer is the road to becoming more interesting. The only way to move forward is to explore. It’s part of building character and growing. Without failure, who would you be? I wouldn’t be up here if I hadn’t fallen thousands of times and made mistakes.”

How awesome is it to hear this? So many people are afraid to make mistakes, to try something new and give it a shot! But doing this adds to your story. It makes you more interesting.

Next time you are faced with stepping out and trying something new, remember that without failure you can’t have success. Maybe, just maybe, that journey through failure will make your story more interesting.

Until next time…I’m Marty, make every minute count.
