What a Wonderful World

I know this sounds like a corny title for a Marty’s Minute, but this may be my favorite title of all time. If we don’t believe this statement, how can we become the leader or person we were meant to be?

When you read the title, did the Louis Armstrong song start playing in your head? What a Wonderful World was written by Bob Thiele and songwriter George David Weiss for Louis Armstrong in 1967. They hoped that Louis’ grandfather style would give the song impact and help bring together a divided world. And wow did it.

The other day I was watching a documentary on Louis Armstrong and they played this song. And a whole lot of memories came flooding in. This was the song my wife and I picked for our wedding song. The song was so appropriate because we were just setting out on our journey together and life was wonderful.

We have so much to look forward to - hopes, dreams, and aspirations. Life is always going to be full of surprises, struggles, ups, and downs. But the key is how we respond.

Even after 35 years of marriage my wife and I still have hopes, dreams, and aspirations and that’s what makes life so special.

What hopes, dreams, and aspirations do you have for yourself? For your team? If you are feeling stuck, take a minute and listen to the song What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. I’m sure It will change your perspective.

I see trees of green

Red roses too

I see them bloom

For me and you

And I think to myself

What a wonderful world

I see skies of blue

And clouds of white

The bright blessed day

The dark sacred night

And I think to myself

What a wonderful world

The colors of the rainbow

So pretty in the sky

Are also on the faces

Of people going by

I see friends shaking hands

Saying, "How do you do?"

They're really saying

"I love you"

I hear babies cry

I watch them grow

They'll learn much more

Than I'll never know

And I think to myself

What a wonderful world

Yes, I think to myself

What a wonderful world

Until next time...I’m Marty, make every minute count.
