Every day we are creating a presence in our work. But what impact are you creating? Is it a catalyst to growth or a constraint to growth?
A catalyst is a stimulus or a spark that drives positive change or movement. When you are a catalyst, people around you are better or get better because you spur growth or excitement. You are part of the solution, not the problem.
When you are viewed as a constraint, you are a limitation or a restriction. People around you tend to feel uneasy and usually avoid dealing with you because they feel that they will not be heard or appreciated.
So ask yourself, which are you – a catalyst or a constraint?
It’s an honest question, and it can be a tough one to answer. But it’s an important question to keep asking ourselves.
Being a catalyst requires an openness to new ideas and thoughts. A catalyst is wholly present for their team and encourages people to let down their guards to foster growth.
The key to being a catalyst is self-awareness. It requires an understanding of who you are and the challenges you face.
Life and business throw us some real challenges but if you treat those challenges with a catalyst mentality and not with a constraint mentality you will go much farther in life and in your career.
Until next time…I’m Marty, make every minute count.
